Our website has been designed to be as easy to use as possible for users with disabilities. Users with a visual impairment can change the text size by adjusting the settings in their browser. Internet Explorer users can access this facility through the View & Text Size menu. Other browsers support this feature by pressing Ctrl and the + or - keys. Please refer to your browser Help if this is not the case. Blind and visually impaired users can also make use of screen readers such as JAWS.
Web Content Accessibility
van Berings is committed to ensuring that the pages within this website are accessible to all individuals including those with disabilities.
Throughout the design process van Berings has undertaken to ensure that this website meets accessibility standards as defined by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). All English language pages of this website conform to W3C's "Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0", Level 1.
Throughout, all text is tagged for language. Thus, a suitably configured screen reader will be able to recognize changes in language and switch its synthesiser language accordingly. There is currently a limitation in the accessibility of the site for some of the pages that contain language sections in a language other than English. Images within such sections of the site have alternative text that is in English. These pages do not comply with Level 1 of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines.
Accessibility Features
Several features have been included to improve both accessibility and usability. Adaptive technology users may wish to be aware that Access Keys have been used throughout and that each page incorporates a 'skip navigation' link. In addition to page-specific Access Keys, the following are available throughout the site:
- Home (Alt + 0)
- Who we are (Alt + 1)
- What we do (Alt + 2)
- People (Alt + 3)
- Locations (Alt + 4)
- News and resources (Alt + 5)
- Recruiting (Alt + 6)
- Reserved Area (Alt + R)
Adobe Acrobat and Accessibility
On this website, our client publications and newsletters are available to read or print in pdf format. Wherever you see the pdf icon ( ) next to the title of a publication you can click on the pdf icon to open the publication.
You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader to view and print pdf files. Adobe Acrobat Reader is free and can be downloaded from the Adobe website. Visually impaired users may also find the tools offered on the Adobe website useful.
As pdf documents may not be readily accessible to screen readers and may not be formatted for visually impaired users, the use of a conversion tool is advised to convert pdf documents into plain text or html documents.
